My first project back after a well deserved summer holiday at the beginning of 2012 was my second music video for Clap Clap Riot.
Being summer I wanted to create a video that incorporated plenty of processes from outside the computer. Everything in the video was created by hand. The verses were scribbled over frame by frame.

TV3 needed packaging and a set design for their new prime time show 'Jono & Ben at Ten' and they came to us at Jet Black Cartel for concepts. With no limitations on where we could take the project, a concept was developed around combining the shows logo, set and packaging into the same thing: a large neon sign.
The sign has featured on set throughout the 20 weeks of shooting and by throwing in some tuxedos and a pug, became the centre point of this title sequence! My roles included designing the sign, developing packaging, directing and motion graphics/typography.
Thank you to all the hands that went into the manufacture and construction of the sign.
Bunker were asked again to create a series of summer idents for Nickelodeon with a quirky Kiwiana theme.
This is a quick montage highlighting some of our favourite moments from the campaign.
I led this project from concept to completion, with a role that ranged from Live Action Direction, 2D, 3D, Animation, Compositing, Editing, Rotoscoping, Art Direction, Prop Making & Stop Motion.
We delivered a total of 40 idents ranging from 5 to 60 seconds in duration.
Working with the creative team at TBWA New York, we developed this treatment to pitch for a global campaign for Tic Tac.
More information coming soon.
Working alongside the very talented Joren van Suylekom at Bunker, we created the title sequence for THE FIELD GUIDE TO EVIL, a short film horror anthology of cinematically rendered folk tales from eight countries.
The research was creepy and the end approach incorporated 3D, scans, collages, stop motion, woodcuts, lithographs and compositing plenty of smoke, fire and grain.

A tribute to all the classic B-Grade Zombie flicks for Clap Clap Riot's tune Everyone's Asleep.
A two day shoot; Day One at the beach and shooting plates in the woods and Day Two in the studio with a Green Screen. I spent the next 3 weeks locked away keying and getting all crazy on it.

One of a few approaches to animating the logo I designed for Terry Teo, Season One.
Maaike wanted to show their new summer range in a dynamic way that resonate with their market. The end result was a beautiful, hard, etherial fashion tease.

With a music video you always do it for the love, and this is one project that had mega love thrown it's way. Hours of animation, compositing, experimenting and tweaking on sunny afternoons.
Strange things happen when you've gone too far and stayed up way too late and as the days and nights began to blur, the video came into it's own.

New Zealand was the Guest of Honour at the prestigious 2012 Frankfurt Book Fair which ran from the 10th - 14th of October. I was bought on board by Perceptual Engineering who were working alongside Inside Out Productions and Michael Hodgson to create the 20 minute film to play across 12 5 metre high screens as part of a large scale projection environment for guest of honour pavilion.
I was given 9 image sequences that required a touch of 'chaos' with a week to turn it around. I employed a familiar technique and got to printing, scanning, ripping, re-scanning, painting and scribbling over the sequences. Each of these sequences were projected on one of the 12 screens as part of the 20 minute film.
New Zealand broke all previous Guest of Honour attendance records with more than 90,000 people queueing to see inside the pavilion over the weekend when the fair was opened to the public. It was a crazy project but an amazing project to be involved with.
I was one contributor to this project. Be sure to visit perceptual-engineering.com & iop.co.nz
Mediaworks wanted to add some sizzle to the launch promo for their biggest show of the year.
The combination of brand elements with rotoscoping and hand drawn textures created an award-winning piece of work.

Official music video for School For Birds Silver Scroll nominated 10,000 Things.
Made with guidance and in collaboration with the supremely talented Rich Nosworthy at Bunker. Long nights, and insane waits for renders...it was a fun and challenging way to learn about the third dimension.

A quick turn-around gig at Bunker for Red Bull's first Flugtag in Qatar. A combination of 3D modelling, cel animation and motion graphics.
A short montage of the work completed at Bunker for Barfoot & Thompson's 90th Birthday celebrations. My role was to create an animated timeline detailing the company's history and achievements. The final piece was 11 minutes long, pixel dimensions of 28150 x 750, with physical dimesnions of 282 metres in width by 7.5 metres in height.

Title sequence, branding and broadcast packaging for Holden Golf World.
Debut music video for Dryden Street's talented Gemma Copas.
This is a short montage of the packaging and motion graphics work I did for season one of Jono & Ben at Ten. As well as the title sequence and set design, I was also involved with developing the packaging which included bumpers, stings and straps. I was also the sole motion designer on the show throughout the season which involved more motion graphics, 3D & VFX work. I was often re-creating and parodying well known movie trailers, title sequences, TV shows & commercials, blowing up buildings, cutting heads off and blurring boobs...with ridiculously fast turnarounds.
This is a short montage of motion graphics work I did for season two of Jono & Ben at Ten. After developing the title sequence and set design, packaging, bumpers, stings and straps for Season One, I was asked to help get the week in-week out graphics underway for the beginning of Season Two. This collection is from the shows Action Men segment and was completed in Cinema 4d, Blender & After Effects.
Nickelodeon Australia commissioned a series of 40 channel Idents where the brief was to inject Nickelodeon's world famous characters into distinctly New Zealand scenarios and locations and be funny doing it.
My role ranged from storylining, live action direction and compositing, and involved the whole Bunker studio, as well as the studio's frequent collaborators: Matt Westbrooke with matchmoving, Pete Williams with the grade & Dave Atai who composed and sound designed every single spot.
This video is a brief selection of a few favourite moments from the campaign.
This was part of my final project at MTV New Zealand for a "Find Your Krush" interstitial campaign for KFC in 2010. I was the only designer on the project, created all on air packaging and this title animation.
** There was a late change in the audio which unfortunately doesn't match the timings of the animation.
